Jonathan Anderson’s Radical Fashion Experiment Is Over (Almost) | BoF Professional, Tim’s Take, Opinion

“I will never go back to the way my mind was before all this,” said Jonathan Anderson, speaking to me, but also speaking for many of us, via Zoom, our new medium of choice as the world changes in deep and as yet unknowable ways. This is usually the time of year when fashion brands lay out their wares for the key autumn/winter selling season. In other words, shows. Not now. The virus put a stop to that.

A year in and it’s proving to be highly unpredictable. Fashion’s future is a seesaw.

I’ve had two long conversations with

Lindsey Vonn dusts off her skis to star in Thom Browne’s latest fashion film during Paris Fashion Week

Written by Jacqui Palumbo, CNN

Olympic skier Lindsey Vonn may have retired after the 2018 Winter Games, but a new fashion film unveiled Sunday shows her hitting the slopes again.

In a noir- and fantasy-inspired short for Thom Browne’s co-gender Autumn-Winter 2021 collection, Vonn navigates a snowy dreamlike sequence loosely based on “The Wizard of Oz,” with Browne’s dachshund Hector making an appearance instead of Toto.

Titled “…the most angelic and fantastical dream that led me home…,” the film follows Vonn in a voluminous lamé gown with corset boning over a black tuxedo coat, white-collared shirt and black bow tie.

Costumes are always part of the program.

Shop Christian Siriano’s 2 Secondhand Pieces Off the Runway

For Christian Siriano’s fall 2021 collection, the designer and philanthropist decided to include secondhand items on the runway. Siriano went back to his roots, selecting a fringed wool coat he designed seven years ago — “I was pleasantly surprised at how well the coat has held up. It still looks new, and the shape feels both modern and timeless,” he told POPSUGAR — as well as a pink cocktail dress that spoke to his dreamlike color palette. (Pink is also one of the leading trends for fall 2021 — see how fashion repeats itself?)

“Reuse and sustainability became a natural

Current media is buzzing with a novel idea put forward by Dr. Elizabeth Segran in a commentary that was published by Fast Company Magazine, calling for the creation of a new senior-level position within Biden-world. The concept would create a Fashion Czar that would target improvements to the environment and humanity on behalf of the fashion industry. The article’s title is: “President Biden, appoint a fashion czar!”

It was not entirely clear from the context of

Milan Designers Hit Reset Button During Digital Fashion Week | Business News

By COLLEEN BARRY, AP Fashion Writer

MILAN (AP) — Fashion is off the hamster wheel, taking a deep breath that is allowing some freshness to seep into the once relentless cycle.

“It is so weird thinking about fashion, and the kind of hamster wheel of fashion, and how we never had a break and always complained about it,’’ Marc Jacobs said during a Milan Fashion Week video chat with Miuccia Prada and Raf Simons post-digital show. “And then you get a break, and you complain.”

Instead, he said, he was taking the moment to watch others, and be inspired.
